As we were traveling from Maritius to India we had three people on board who were in need of more medical treatment than the ship can provide. In between Maritius and India is a tiny island called Diego Garcia. Diego Garcia is an atoll which is occupied only by a US and British military base. Evidently no commercial ships are allowed to pass within 20 miles of the island due to security purposes. But one of the students who was ill happened to be the daughter of the owner of the Arizona Cardinals, so a phone call from him to John McCain and then to President Obama and suddenly we were entering this secret island for evacuation of the ill students. We were told not to take any pictures of the island, and as we entered near the harbour the US marines came out in Zodiacs and even a submarine surfaced to make sure we weren't being held hostage by pirates. The students were taken by the US marines and flown to a hospital in Singapore. Once again the US marines came to the rescue with the help of some people in high places.
